31 The Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Mannuthy campus Thrissur is organizing the XXXVII Annual Congress of Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery (ISVS) and National Symposium on the theme “Need for Specialization and Superspecialization in Veterinary Surgery and Imaging Techniques for Professional Efficiency Development” from 6th to 8th November 2013. Casino Cultural auditorium, Thrissur and College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy are the venues for the symposium. About 400 delegates including faculty from various Veterinary Colleges in India and Scientists from National Institute and Professionals from Department of Animal Husbandry will take part in the three day programme.
The inaugural session of the Annual Congress and National Symposium on 6/11/2013 will be chaired by Dr. Dipak Kumar De, Vice President, Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery. Dr. B. Ashok IAS, Vice Chancellor, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will inaugurate the symposium. Dr. M. R. Saseendranath will deliver key note address. Dr. S. Ramkumar, Director of Entrepreneurship will release the compendium of abstracts and souvenir. Dr.K.P.Sreekumar, Registrar, KVASU, Dr.H.Subramanian,Finance officer, KVASU, Dr. P. C. Saseendran, Dean, Veterinary College, Mannuthy, Dr. Leo Joseph, Dean, Veterinary College, Pookode and Dr. R. Rajendrakumar, Dean, Dairy College, Mannuthy ,Dr.K.Udayavarman, President ,Kerala State Veterinary Council, Dr.N.N.Sasi, Registrar, Kerala State Veterinary Council ,Dr.Ani S Das,MD ,Kerala Feeds,Dr.Jose James,MD,KLDBoard will offer felicitation. Dr.V.Ramakumar,Former Secretary,Veterinary Council of India and Dr.S.Thilagar,Dean,Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary Research and Education,Puduchery will present Theme Paper in the Symposium. Various ISVS Awards viz. Dr.RPS Tyagi Oration Award,Dr.O Ramakrishna Oration Award,Dr.Ratan Singh Memorial Award,Anil-Arun Chandna Best Surgeon Award, Dr.M.R.Patel Award ,Dr.A.K.Bhargava Award Young Surgeon Award,Best Field Clinician Award,and Best Paper Presented in Scientific Session of the symposium for 2012 will be distributed in the inaugural function.
About 450 papers will be presented and discussed during the three day programme in nine sessions viz., Anaesthesiology, Radiology and Imaging Techniques, Equine Surgery, Ruminant Surgery, Small Animal Surgery, Avian Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Wild and Zoo Animal Surgery and Poster sessions on Large Animal Surgery and Small Animal Surgery in addition to the Award session.The recommendation of the National Symposium will be form a base for formulating future strategies to be evolved for specialization and superspecialization in Veterinary Surgery and Imaging studies for treatment of Livestock and Companion animals. The Annual Convention and National symposium is jointly sponsored by Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery(Kerala Chapter), and Co-sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science ,Environment and Technology.
