22The Valedictory function of the 21 day DST-SERB sponsored training programme on “Fundamentals of Livestock Meteorology” conducted by Centre for Animal Adaptation to Environment and Climate Change Studies was organised on 22-12-2013, 10 am at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Mannuthy, Thrissur. The Welcome address was delivered by Dr. G. Girish Varma , Implementing Officer, CAADECCS and the function was presided by Dr.M.R.Saseendranath, Director of Academics and Research, KVASU. Dr. P. Rajendran, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Kerala Agricultural University inaugurated the valedictory session. In his inaugural speech KAU, Vice chancellor emphasized the need to enhance the productivity of Livestock sector in the context of increasing human population, which is being expected to double in the next 41 years. Dr.K.Karthiayini expressed that as outcome of the training programme the trainee participants who represented from all the regions of the country unanimously decided to form a new society called “Indian Society of Animal Meteorology”. It will create a common platform for research work on impact of climate change on animal agriculture on all India basis as a network project in the years to come. Dr.P.C.Saseendhran, Dean, COVAS, Mannuthy , Dr.Mahesh Chander , Principal Scientist,ICAR and Mr.Amatya, Meteorologist offered felicitations. Dr.Shibu K Jacob, Assistant Professor proposed vote of thanks.
