02 26th Kerala Science Congress organised by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute and CWRDM begins at KVASU Pookode Campus. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. Oommen Chandy inaugurated the programme through video conference mode on 28th January 2014,. Hon'be M.P Sri. M.I.Shanavas addressed the gathering and distributed awards to the merritorious scientists. General Convenor Prof. George Varghese welcomed the gathering. CSIR Outstanding Scientist Dr.Gangan Prathap delivered keynote address. Dr.Gangan Prathap suggested that the country requires 3300 Universities to meet the emerging needs of higher education. Chairman, 26th Kerala Science Congress Dr.A.N.P.Ummer kutty, Executive Vice President, KSCSTE Prof. V.N.Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor KVASU Dr.B.Ashok IAS, Vice Chancellor Calicut University Dr.M.Abdul Salam and Member Secretary, KSCSTE Dr.K.K.Ramachandran addressed the gathering, Chairperson. KVASU's Farm Journal NIRAVU, Software for feeding Dairy Cattle Ksheera prabha and ten new publications were released during the function.Dr.A.N.P.Ummer Kutty released the new publications by handing over the copies to Member Secretary, KSCSTE Dr.K.K.Ramachandran. Organizing Committee Dr.P.G.Latha expressed vote of thanks.Dr.Nanditha Krishna, Honorary Director, CPR Foundation, Chennai delivered Dr.E.K.Janaki Ammal Memorial lecture on 28th January 2014. Carnatic Vocal Concert by Sreevalsan J Menon and Tribal Songs and Dances by Nattarangu was held in the evening. 2000 scientists are participating in the four day long Kerala Science Congress.Carnatic Vocal Concert by renowned Carnatic Vocalist Sri. O.S.Thiagarajan was held on 29th January 2014.Valedictory function was held on 31st January 2014. Dr.Binu K Mani and Dr.Sooryadas from KVASU received best poster awards among the Veterinary Science posters presented in the Science Congress.
