24The 3rd graduation day ceremony of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was held on the 14th of March, 2014 at Kabani auditorium in the University Headquarters at Pookode. 187 students of the University received their certificates .A vocal concert of Dr M Balamuralikrishna was the highlight of the day .Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, the chief guest of the function distributed gold medals to Dr Grace M. R (Bachelor of veterinary and animal sciences and animal husbandry), MsKrupa Joseph (B.TechDiploma in dairy science and technology), Dr Fathima Rahim (Master of veterinary science.), Dr P. Ponnuvel (Ph.D.), Ms. Vineetha P(Master of Science) and Ms. Anjali Padmanabhan (Diploma). Dr B Ashok, Vice Chancellor of KVASU in his keynote address remarked that the University is growing in a very fast pace, overtaking most other young Universities of the State in parameters pertaining to student enrolment and faculty strength and quality of education. The University has triplicated its student strength in just three years of its operation and is going to increase further with the launching of two new academic programmes- the Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science and and Diploma in Dairy Science, in the KVASU campuses at Thiruvizhamkunnu and Thumburmozhy respectively. Vice Chancellor announced that the Diploma in Laboratory Techniques course, started recently by the university has obtained P.S.C. recognition. He also said that the University is entering a phase of rapid infrastructure development that will answer the requirement for initial 10-15 years. All hindrances in this regard have been done away with. Also, the University will adopt new and innovative methods to transact most efficient teaching and learning. He exhorted the new graduates to pickup professional and personal skills and to tap global opportunities in career. Dr N.N. Sasi, Director, State Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. K.Udayavarman, President, Kerala State Veterinary Council, Dr.K.N.Nousahad Ali, Managing Director, Kerala state poultry development corporation, Deans of constituent colleges-Dr.Leo Joseph, Dr.P.C.Saeendranath and Dr.Rajendrakumar and other members of the Management Council Dr.S.Ramkumar ,Director of Entrepreneurship and finance office Dr.H.Subramanianattended the function. Dr K.P.Sreekumar, Registrar, KVASU welcomed the gathering and Dr M.R. Saseendranath, DAR, KVASU delivered the vote of thanks.In a style characterized by deep and resonant voice, Dr Balamuralikrishna began his concert with a Vatapi in Hamsadhwani. This was followed by Nadathanumanisam in Chitaranjani by Thiagaraja. The major kriti selected for elaboration was Hindolankriti ‘SamajaVaraVaibhogamaho’. Then the melodious JayadevaKriti ‘YaRamita’ was soulfully rendered followed by Thillana in BRindavani.The entire audience was mesmerized by the excellent performance of the stalwart musician. The musical notes have flown with infinite melody traversing the three octaves with unimaginable ease and communicating deeper emotions through rich improvisations. The cascade of the compositions coming alive through golden voice held audience in a hypnotic spell for one and half hours. He was accompanied on violin by Shri. N. C. Madhav and on mridangam byMannargudi Shri N. Subramanian. Dr. K. Krishnakumar provided vocal support.
