25Three days training on Goat Rearing and Management was held on 18th, 19th and 20th June 2014 at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode for the vet-support team of ‘Samagra’ Goat Village project of Kudumbashree Unit, Kannur. The training convened as part of the programme in continuation to the state level workshop on possible collaboration with KVASU and part of the project on equipping livestock based commodity interest groups for sustainable livestock production. The training had 20 Kudumbashree facilitators as participants and included sessions on breeding, feeding and housing management, disease prevention and control. A session on ‘Yoga and Physical Fitness’ proved a varied experience for the trainees. The external farm visit on the third day exposed the participantsin handling common disease conditions like mastitis, maggot wound, FMD etc. and housing pattern and management tactics. Certificate of training were distributed to the attendees.
