10The Department of Animal nutrition of College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode, Wayanad in association with the Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association (CLFMA) of India and the Centre for One Health Education, Advocacy, Research and Training (COHEART) had organized a seminar on “Prospects of feeds and feeding in diary sector for augmenting food security” at the college campus on 4th August, 2014. Eminent scientist and feed industrialist attended the seminar making it more informative. The official function was inaugurated by Dr. S. Ramkumar, Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU and chaired by Dr. Dinesh Bhosale, Chairman, CLFMA of India. It was followed by student’s interactive session with the progressive dairy farmers of Wayanad district which was presided over by Dr. S. Ramkumar and Dr. Syam Mohan.
There was also various sessions on 1. Opportunities and challenges in diary sector” by Dr. Dinesh Bhosale 2. Feeding practices in Kerala by Dr. George Mathew 3. Trends in feed Technology by Dr. S. Senthilmurugan.Dr. P. Anand Menon, President, Kerala state CLFMA delivered the vote of thanks.
A technical training session on “Total mixed ration” was conducted on 5th August, 2014 for the farmers by Dr. Syam Mohan, Dr. Dildeep V, Dr. Senthil Murugan and Dr. Biju Chacko. The training session was followed by a briefing on the activities of COHEART for augmenting food security which was handled by Dr. Sukumaran, Senior consultant, COHEART.
