22The state- level Farmers Day celebrations organised by Kerala State Government Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department was inaugurated at the Marine Grounds in Kozhikode on 16th August 2014.The Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. Oommen Chanyi inaugurating the function, said Kerala Government will host a Global Agro meet on November 6-7 to explore national and international technology and farming methods in the state. Efforts would be made to pass on the benefits of agriculture research to the people, he said.He said the government also aims to turn the state into a total organic farming state by 2016. Malayalam cine actor & Kudumbashree brand Ambassador Manju Warrier was the chief guest at the function presided over by Minister for Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Sri. K P Mohanan.
Ministers M K Muneer & P K Jayalakshmi, M K Raghavan, M I Shahnawaz, both MPS, and MLAs C K Nanu, K Kunhammad Master, K K Lathika, C Moin Kutty, Purushan Kadalundi, P T A Rahim, A K Saseendran, U Ummer Master, District Panchayat President Kanathil Jameela and Collector C A Latha, were among those present at the inaugural ceremony. Awards presented to farmers for their outstanding performance in livestock and agriculture sector. The cultural programmes on the second day was followed by series of seminars related to animal husbandry and agriculture which continued to the last day. The valedictory function on 19th August was inaugurated by Minister Sri. K. P. Kunhalikutty, presided by Minister Sri. M.K.Muneer.
The Exhibition stall opened by KVASU as part of the Karshakadinam celebrations showcased various courses offered by the University, Services provided to the farmers, cages and innovations by the faculty and various laboratory specimens and models. Various leaflets,notices,pamphlets and brochures regarding courses and services provided by the University, Information regrading various livestock farming etc.were distributed to the public. The information regarding the safety of milk and meat consumption, hygienic slaughter procedures and awareness among farmers on the antibiotic residues in chicken and safe consumption was provided to the public in the form of power-point video scrolls . The stall also offered sale of various publications of the University.
