A free health camp for aged dogs ( 7 years and above) will be organized by University Veterinary Hospitals, Mannuthy on 19th September and Kokkalai on 20th to 27th September 2014.This camp is organized to create awareness about geriatric pet care. As a general thumb rule, a dog who is 7 years and older is considered to be geriatric/senior and needs special care. Diseases affecting kidney, liver and heart are major health problems that occur in senior dogs. Routine multi- organ evaluation of senior dogs may reveal the dysfunctions of these organs long before one can see any outward signs of disease and before it is too late.
This camp will focus on evaluating the functions of the heart, liver and kidney of senior dogs by blood screening, urinalysis and ECG. Those dogs diagnosed with problems will be further investigated and managed in the appropriate way. Tips about the senior pet care will be given and queries related to senior pet management will be answered.Dogs will be registered at both the hospitals for this camp with a minimal fee of Rs. 20.
Online registration can be done at healthcamp@kvasu.ac.in
