19Department of Agriculture, Kerala Agricultural University, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Kerala Horticulture Mission in association with JCC, Doha organized an Agri Entrepreneurship workshop at Doha, Qatar under the leadership of Minister for Agriculture, Government of Kerala for NRKs working in Doha. The programme was held at Birla Public School from 16th to 17th October 2014. Sri. Sanjeev Arora, Indian Ambassador to Qatar inaugurated the programme on 16th October 2014. During the inaugural address he suggested that Agripreneurship initiative will facilitate the nonresident Keralites to venture in to entrepreneurship development programmes of the country. Minister for Agriculture and Animal husbandry Sri. K.P.Mohanan presided over the function. Registrar of Kerala Agricultural University Dr.P.Balachandran, Director of Entrepreneurship of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan and Kerala State Horticulture Mission Director Dr.Prathapan presented papers in their respective areas and explained the potential investment ventures of the State. Dr.Balachandran highlighted the business prospects of Neera. Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan emphasized the importance of Market led production and prospects of Animal protein sources to meet the protein malnutrition. Dr.Prathapan explained the activities of Horticulture Mission including poly house and high tech farming in agriculture. 400 potential investors participated in the two day workshop and interacted with the experts. They were provided with the facilities for submitting the registration form from Doha. This will be a single window system for establishing the projects with the help of Agriculture and allied departments and Universities of the State. During the workshop Minister inaugurated the paddy cultivation initiatives of Adukkalathottam of Doha, one of the Social networking initiatives of the Doha Keralites. Non resident Keralites suggested that they are interested to invest in Agri and allied sector if an investment friendly ecosystem is assured in the State. Investors expressed satisfaction over the workshop in bringing single window system for clearing the project proposals.
