29Dr. B. Ashok, Vice-chancellor of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University expatiated on the digitalization of the educational sector and on the prospective of One Health while inaugurating the E-portal of the Centre for One Health Education, Advocacy, Research and Training during the launch of the post graduate programme on One Health held at Hotel Wayanad Gate on 28th October, 2014. The Centre is offering post graduate diploma and certificate course on One Health from the current academic year onwards under the technology enabled distance mode of learning. Dr. B. Sunil, Professor and Head of Department of Veterinary Public Health, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode welcomed the dignitaries and the participants of the course to the function. The function was presided over by Prof. (Dr). K. Vijayakumar, Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode, who briefed on the history of One Health and the need of such collaborative efforts to tackle issues such as zoonotic diseases. The Dean mentioned that the university aims for starting MS and PhD programme on One Health in near future in collaboration with the Massey University, New Zealand. The “Guidelines for the PG programme on One Health” was released by Prof. (Dr). K. Vijayakumar which was received by Dr. V.R. Thara, Veterinary Surgeon, District Veterinary Centre, Kalpetta. Dr. Prejit, Course director, PG courses in One Health delivered the vote of thanks. The inauguration was followed by orientation of the course.
