05 Technology interventions are required to increase profitability through dairying; Says Dr.B.Ashok, Vice Chancellor, KVASU. VC made this remark while inaugurating the two day training programme on sustainable dairy production as part of Global innovation initiative at Pookode on 5th January 2015. KVASU will collaborate with MRCMPU in the areas of providing Veterinary and Entrepreneurship Services in the State. KVASU will supply quality region wise mineral mixtures to dairy co-operatives. In order to maximize profit, dairy farmers should seriously think of value addition in dairying. Sustainable livestock farming aims at producing livestock production taking in to account the economic, social and environmental issue; globally food safety and food security issues are emerging. Global farm platform addresses these major issues. KVASU is one among the members of Global farm platform. Others include University of Bristol, Wisconsin, Kansas and Zhejiang; VC added. Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Malabar Regional Co-operative Milk producers Union(MRCMPU) and British Council is jointly organizing this programme. 30 progressive dairy farmers from Wayanad and Kozhikkode districts are attending the training programme. Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Dr.K.Vijayakumar presided over the function. Sri.K.T.Thomas, Managing Director, MRCMPU offered felicitations. Director of Entrepreneurship Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan welcomed the delegates and Dr.Deepa Ananth expressed vote of thanks.
