25The State expects to receive 80 Crores from the central pool for breed conservation project from the total central allocation of 500 crorefor conservation of native breeds in the country.says Sri K.P.Mohanan, Hon'ble Minister foor Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Government of Kerala. Minister made this remark while inaugurating Ksheera smrudhi samgra karshikabhadratha package at Perumatti Panchayat, Chittoor block of Palakkad on 23rd January 2015. Each panchayat will recieve 100 cows and with that one lakh cows will be supplied to the state in this year followed by two lakh cows in the second year.This will bring in about 30lakh litres of milk in the State.Minister added..KVASU has facilitated the supply of sexed semen from KLD Board to Chittoor Panchayat which would be supplied through the Animal Husbandry Department to dairy farmers of Chittoor Block. Sri K Achuthan, MLA chitoor presided over the function.Sri P.K.Biju, MP,Alathur constituency, Sri K.A.chandran, Ex MLA and Presidents and secretaries of grama panchayats attended the function. The AI can supplied by the KLDBoard was received by Dr.Girija the Joint Director of AHD,Palakkad District from the Minister.
A seminar on Animal husbandry which was held as part of the function which was inaugurated by Sri Chinnakuttan, President, Palakkad district cooperative bank. Dr.Rajeev from KLD Board described about the importance of use of sexed semen and Dr.Deepa Ananth took class on innovative methods to improve productivity in dairy sector.
