14 Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University could establish College of Avian Sciences and Management, first of its kind in India within One year including infrastructure facilities. As part of the same College of Avian Sciences and Management’s new Academic block will be inaugurated on 19th February 2015 at Thiruvazhamkunnu, Palakkad district by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. Oommen Chandy. Minister for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Pro Chancellor of the University Sri. K.P.Mohanan will preside over the function. Sri.K.P.Rajesh M.P will inaugurate the Japanese Quail farm, Sri. N.Shamsudheen M.L.A will inaugurate the Chick Management Centre and District Panchayat President of Palakkad Sri. Kandamuthan will inaugurate the Grower Farm. Sri. Ramesh Thenkil, CGM, NABARD will launch the Mobile Poultry Unit and Agriculture Production Commissioner Sri. Subrato Biswas IAS will launch the Anaswara Quail Project of the University. Special Officer Dr.A.Jalaludeen will present the report. As part of the inaugural programme an exhibition on various breeds of poultry and activities of KVASU will be arranged. An awareness programme on Poultry production will be held at the same venue for farmers and Entrepreneurs of the State. Vice Chancellor Dr.B.Ashok will wecome the delegates and Registrar Dr.Joseph Mathew will express vote of thanks. District Collector Sri.K.Ramachandran, Director of Animal Husbandry Department Dr.Brahmanandan, University officials and elected representatives of local bodies are among the few dignitaries who will offer felicitations during the inaugural session.
KVASU is offering three year BSc (Poultry Production and Business Management) course during this financial year from College of Avian sciences and Management, Thiruvazhamkunnu.College aims at strengthening poultry sector in the state including industry- research- farmer- entrepreneur interface. This centre will pave way for popularising poultry industry as one of the viable business ventures in the State.
