20A Hands on Training Programme on “Preparation of Value Added Dairy Products” was organized by the College of Dairy Science and Technology, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU), Mannuthy in association with Indian Dairy Association (IDA) South Zone at KVASU Dairy Plant, Mannuthy, from 11th to13th February, 2015. The programme was aimed to familiarise farmers and entrepreneurs with traditional and novel dairy products, which can be produced and marketed economically at house hold or small scale levels to increase the unit value of their output. The training programme was inaugurated by Sri. Rajan Joseph, Deputy Director, Dairy Development Department, Thrissur. Dr. P. I. Geevarghese, Chairman, IDA Kerala Chapter, explained the objectives of the programme to the participants. Thereb were 25 participants from across the state. The programme was led by Dr. S. N. Rajakumar, Professor and Head, Department of Dairy Technology and Smt. Salini Gopinath, Academic Consultant, Department of Dairy Technology and was conducted as part of course curriculum for the final year B.Tech students. More than 20 dairy products were introduced to the participants by the students under the guidance of Dr. S .N. Rajakumar, and Smt. Salini Gopinath during the programme. The programme ended on 13th February. Dr. Girish Varma, Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology distributed the certificate to the participants.
