06The World environment day was observed at KVASU campus of Thiruvazhamkunnu, under the auspices of College of Avian Sciences and Management and Students’ Union 2015 on 05/06/2015. The students actively cleaned the college and hostel premises and medicinal and aromatic plants (Ungu/Indian Beech- Pongamia Pinnata) were planted at the college premises. Students took a pledge to make the campus plastic free and eco friendly. As part of the effective utilization and recycling of left over plastic bottles, a new concept of “BOTTLE AGRICULTURE” was introduced by planting vegetables in customized plastic bottles, in a vertical farming system. The new initiatives were inaugurated and environment day message was conveyed by Dr. A Jalaludeen, Special Officer, CASM in a function convened at the campus. Associate Patron Dr. Vimal Antony and Students’ Union president, Mr. Ashique Babu offered felicitations. All the faculty members, staff and students planted saplings and promised to keep on the spirit of environment protection.
