11 The zoonoses day celebration on 6th July, 2015 was organized by School of Zoonoses Public Health and Pathobiology and NSS units of College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy at Bharthiya Vidya Bhavan Poochatty, Thrissur. The programmes included: Exhibition on zoonoses, Seminar on zoonoses for high school students , Quiz programme, painting and pencil drawing competition. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Madhavan, G.I Surgeon, Ashwini Hospital, Thrissur. The Principal of the school Dr. Manoranjini V. welcomed the gathering. The felicitation address was by Dr C.B Manamohan, NSS Co-ordinator. Mr Ramu S. , NSS volunteer delivered the vote of thanks.An elaborate exhibition including information regarding various Zoonotic diseases was arranged. The exhibition also included display of specimens of disease conditions collected from Pathology, VPH and Parasitology departments. More than 1800 students from std VI to XII attended the exhibition.
The seminar included a class on zoonoses by Dr. C Latha, Professor and Head , Dept of VPH, CVAS, Mannuthy. Around 200 students attended the seminar. The class was to create an awareness about the existing Zoonotic diseases, its’ prevention and control. The students actively participated in the seminar.
The quiz programme was also organized for the students on zonnoses. The quiz master was Dr Harikrishnan S., Assistant Professor, Dept. of Poultry Science, Mannuthy. The quiz programme included a preliminary round in which 100 students participated and from which seven teams were selected. The first prize was won by Navin Vincent and Arvind A., II prize by Reva T. and Lakshmi S. Menon and III prize was won by Vinayak M.G. and Anand Menon. The painting and Pencil drawing completion was organized for high school students and the results are : 1. Painting : I prize: Neha R Nair II prize : Aneena Elizebeth Vaarghese and III prize: Susan Verghese 2. Pencil drawing : I prize : Gautham C. Raj II prize : Harinandan K. and III prize : Abhinav K.The programme ended at 3.00 pm with a valedictory function and prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners by Dr Ajith Jacob George and Dr C Latha. Master Navin Vincent , a IX std. student delivered the vote of thanks.
